Browse therapists by what you are going through

Start with the reason you are looking. Each page shows which providers often work in that area and what to ask before you book.

Three steps from search to first call

No account and no fee for patients.

  1. 1. Search your area

Enter a city or ZIP, choose a concern if you like, and pick in person or online. Results appear right away.

  2. 2. Compare credentials

Every listing shows the license type, practice location and NPI from the public registry. Claimed profiles add specialties, insurance, fees and a License verified badge.

  3. 3. Call or send an inquiry

Call the practice from any listing, or send a short inquiry to a claimed profile. The therapist replies to you directly.

What to check when choosing a therapist

A good fit matters more than any single credential. Ask these questions before a first appointment.

  • License type and state. Make sure the provider holds an active license in the state where you live, including for online sessions.

  • Approach. Ask how they usually work, for example talk therapy, CBT, DBT, EMDR or family systems, and what a typical session looks like.

  • Format. Decide whether you want to meet in person, online, or a mix of both, and check the practice location and hours.

  • Insurance and fees. Ask whether they are in network with your plan, what the self-pay rate is, and whether they offer a sliding scale or a superbill.

  • First-call questions. Ask about availability, session length, how often people usually meet, and what happens if you need to cancel.

Built for group practices

One practice page, every clinician listed, and inquiries that reach the right person without a front-desk shuffle.

  • Routing. Each inquiry goes to the clinician whose specialties and accepted insurance match what the patient selected.
  • Roles. Owners manage billing and the practice page, staff manage profiles and inquiries.
  • One invoice. A single subscription covers every clinician on the plan.

One new client attending weekly at a self-pay rate of 150 USD brings about 600 USD a month. The Group Practice plan billed yearly is 99 USD a month, so a single new weekly client covers it several times over.

Questions people ask

Is NearbyTherapy free for patients?

Yes. Searching, viewing listings, calling a practice and sending an inquiry are free for patients, and no account is needed.

Where does the data come from?

Listings are built from the public NPPES NPI Registry, the federal registry of health care providers run by CMS, and refreshed every month. Claimed profiles add details the therapist enters and confirms.

How do I remove or correct my listing?

Use the corrections page with your NPI and email. After you confirm your email with a code, we handle the request within 2 business days. A removal hides the listing once the email is confirmed and the NPI matches.

Do you take a cut of sessions?

No. Therapists pay a flat subscription. There is no per-client fee and no share of session fees, ever.

How is a license verified?

We check the license number and state on a claimed profile against the NPI registry and the public lookup of the state licensing board. Profiles that pass show a License verified badge.

Is this a crisis service?

No. NearbyTherapy is a directory. If you are in crisis, call or text 988 (Suicide and Crisis Lifeline). In an emergency, call 911. Crisis resources

Do you give medical advice?

No. We help you find and compare licensed providers. Questions about diagnosis or treatment belong with a licensed clinician.
